Vale Desmond Victor Harper AM

Today the City of Penrith RSL sub-Branch and Penrith RSL community farewelled one of their own, Desmond Victor Harper AM.

Many may know Des as the face of commemoration services at Penrith with his position of Parade Commander for the City of Penrith RSL sub-Branch ANZAC Day and Remembrance Day marches.

Des’ commitment to keeping the ANZAC spirit alive and his valuable service was recognised by the City of Penrith RSL sub-Branch in 2018 with a Life Membership.

For his exceptional service in the Royal Australia Navy, Des received an Order of Australia in 1967.

Throughout his career in the Navy, Des saw many ships, conflicts, and wars including during the Korean War and the Malaysian Emergency.

Des will be sadly missed.
